As many of you know, my primary medium and working method is digital collage composed of manipulated photographs often combined with digital drawing & generative images. In another life I was an Arts & Culture consultant specializing in revitalization planning through creative public art projects and programs with Economic & Community Development Departments of towns, villages and cities. I've always enjoyed working with themes and ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY is a terrific web site that I've been watching for a while. Follow the link to their welcome page and read it - I really like their philosophy. While contemplating "flight" I remembered having this old sketch in one of my even older travel journals and decided to post it. These, by the way, precede my recently mentioned "visual journals" by quite a few years. I still draw everyday, but more often than not the work is digital, watercolor or tempera sketches...the hard sketches - pencil, colored pencil or pen & ink - usually end up in the visual journals these days. Thanks for your kind comments on my eraser carving. Wow, a fellow carver.Nice to meet you. Interesting to see and read of your preoccupation with chairs. Funny, because they've also been creeping into a lot of my carvings lately. What does it mean I wonder??? Love your site! Especially the Prayer. And yes, I see the Helecopter in the toilet paper too! Years later, thanks, Polly. Although, as I recall, we did communicate some back when. In case you have an RSS Feed that alerts you to my very late reply here? Good news! I've begun scanning ALL of the old Eraser carvers Quarterly issues and am soon to put them up on another blog. Stay tuned.
