If you got here from MICKMATHERSARTBLOG, here are four (4) progressive studies that make up today's post over there. This is the original crop taken from a flame in one of my fractal generators where the only manipulation was to resize it for my working frame. That left things really grainy, jaggedly and loose, a lot like a sketch using colored pencils or pastels in a way.

The next step in the process was to change the background color. That was easily accomplished in the fractal generator and a necessary step to achieve the final, night time tint. That's right, we're thinking ahead and all the way to the end right from the beginning.

Layering the two previous flames was the next step in the process before running the composite through another filter to add a little atmosphere to the mix.

The composite of layers 1 and 2 were run thru the same filter a second time to have some choices in patterning and light. It was then layered into Study #3 as seen above. The Car

I had quite a few comments on the original post at Illustration Friday on May 25th, 2007. So, I thought it might be fun to give a little bit extra as regards its development. Alongside the original photograph, I offer an alternate version of said original post - I found it rather busy at this stage, took a U-turn and went back to the drawing board. Below is the single car that was cut out of the photograph and sent to the array of filters and manipulating software here at the Secret Visual Laboratory. The car was isolated completely from the background first and then the fun began. If there are other questions regarding this image, I might (key word = "might") be obliged to reveal a secret or two ... in fact, at the original post, I already did reveal something about the Lab! :D
